Complex Shape Pultruded Covers Insulate Mobile Electrification Systems
Insul-8 Corporation has designed and manufactured mobile electrification systems since 1944. Mobile electrification systems deliver power to all types of moving equipment including cranes, ship loading systems, conveyors and transit systems. The metal conductor bar requires an insulating cover and mating overlap cover at each joint to prevent accidental electrocution. For applications operating in extreme conditions -60°F to 400°F intermittent, Insul-8 utilizes Glasforms high heat resistant pultruded composites in two of their mobile systems: the Insul-8 Bar and Hevi-Bar II systems. The Insul-8 Bar system is designed to insulate against phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground problems for 40 to 500 amp capacities. Conductor bars and pultruded covers are furnished in lengths up to 29 feet. The pultruded covers are rated up to 400°F for unloaded, nonbearing conditions. Covers incorporate UV stabilizer and surface veil for either outdoor or indoor applications. The larger Hevi-Bar II system delivers high capacity electrical service in factories, storage yards, people movers and other demanding installations. Glasforms molds the complex open channel shapes to exact tolerances; allowing a snap fit interlock between the insulating bar, composite cover and composite overlap cover. Process: Pultrusion Materials: Continuous strand mat, roving, polyester surfacing veil in a flame retardant resin system. Properties: Electrically insulating, self extinguishing and fire retardant to UL 94V-0, service up to 400°F. Size: Six Profile Shapes - Height Ranges: 1.34" to 4.37"; Width Ranges: .550" to 2.52"; Wall Thickness: .050" to .80" |
