Glasforms, Inc. Acquires Hexcel CRTM™ Business

San Jose, CA, July 5, 2000 – Glasforms, Inc., of San Jose, CA has reached agreement to acquire the CRTM™ business of Hexcel Corporation located in Kent, Washington. CRTM™ is the trademarked name for the proprietary technology of a form of the pultrusion process developed by Hexcel Corporation headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut. CRTM™ is an acronym for Continuous Resin Transfer Molding which combines pultrusion with resin injection directly into the die. The transaction is an asset sale which includes three production lines, one of which is believed to the largest pultrusion machine ever constructed, capable of producing finished products nine feet wide. This line and one other have been designed to manufacture cored panels for truck floors and railroad car doors. Both production lines will move to Glasforms’ newly expanded Birmingham, Alabama facility. The third line will move to San Jose and is specially designed for the manufacture of thin carbon fiber laminates aimed at the infrastructure rehabilitation market. Glasforms, Inc. has named Michael Guglielmo, Business Manager of the new CRTM™ division of Glasforms. The acquisition fits nicely with Glasforms’ ongoing business plan of evolution into a key supplier of highly engineered structures.
