The Opening of Birmingham Facility

October 12, 1994 - San Jose, CA - Glasforms Inc., a manufacturer of fiber reinforced plastic composites, is building a state of the art pultrusion facility in Birmingham, AL. Ground breaking will begin in late October, as the first phase of a major expansion project totaling over $9 million when complete. The first phase includes a 30,000 square foot plant complete with climate control and proprietary high output machinery. The automated facility will occupy a nine acre site in the Valley East Industrial Park, and is scheduled to begin operation in March 1995. "Birmingham was selected as Glasforms second location due to the city's outstanding quality and low cost of living, as well as its proximity to major customers," said Peter Pfaff, President of Glasforms. "The city of Birmingham has assisted our development by providing low interest tax exempt industrial bond financing, tax abatement incentives and employee relocation services." lasforms Inc. is a leader in the pultrusion industry, servicing customers in over 80 different markets worldwide. According to the Society for Plastics Industry, pultrusion applications will grow 10-20% over the next 4 to 5 years. With the successful development of a series of new products, Glasforms expects to double its business in this time frame. The company is currently expanding operations at its 100,000 square foot headquarters in San Jose. |
